The Wim Hof Method: How to Control Your Mind Using?

Some people break all limits. One of them is Wim Hof – a Dutch known as the Iceman. He is known for his ability to withstand icy conditions and teaching others his “Wim Hof Method.”

“The cold gave me a direct understanding of deeper breathing and how to heal a broken heart.”

– The Iceman Wim Hof

You might have seen Wim Hof:

  • Running barefoot and shirtless in the Arctic
  • Climbing up Mt. Kilimanjaro in just 2 days without shoes
  • Staying in an ice bath for almost 2 hours which makes it a world’s record
  • Climbing Mt. Everest in just shorts
  • In 2011, as a part of an experiment, Wim was injected with a poisonous E.Coli endotoxin that is very dangerous to a human body. Wim Hof volunteered to show that he can control his immune system through his breathing techniques and mind control. And Wim succeeded. He didn’t get sick after being infected by the virus.

How does the Iceman Wim Hof withstand the extreme cold shirtless?

Wim Hof is using breathing techniques coming from an ancient yogi technique of Pranayama. Wim can consciously regulate the temperature of his body and activate his sympathetic nervous system.

He took this ancient tradition and made it accessible and teachable for us through – The Wim Hof Method.  Wim Hof says that we can control our immune system and heal any condition through sets of breaths. By controlling his mind, Wim can control his body and break all possible records to show us that the limitations are in our minds.

Wim Hof is a contemporary guru of ancient traditions. He teaches that we all can do with the body what we want as long as we learn to govern our minds.

Why did Wim Hof start to challenge his body?

In 1995, Wim’s first wife committed suicide, and his pain for her lost brought him to this path. As I mentioned in the previous article, when the pain is so big that there is nowhere else to hide, we must show up for the pain and find who we’re.

Wim had two options to deny and numb his pain or dive deep into it. He chose the latter. This brought him to the breathing techniques and experimenting with his mind to be of conscious control of his body.

“No one is coming to save you. This life of yours is 100% your responsibility.”

Would he choose to suppress his pain, a great teacher wouldn’t show us our possibilities. The only limits are in our minds.

We all have some pain that has a message for us. It’s here to make us grow and step into our power.

What pain is your source of power? How can you dive deep to discover who you are?
